The Erie Beach Hotel is a long-standing Port Dover tradition When you enter the doors of the Erie Beach Hotel it quickly becomes apparent that this establishment is based on tradition. Though the decor is fresh and clean, it boasts a retro fifties styling that makes people feel as though they are taking a step back in time. The decor and great times aren’t the only things that have remained a constant at the Erie Beach Hotel, however. For 60 years three generations of the Schneider family have doled out hearty servings of Lake Erie's daily offerings, presenting patrons with some of the freshest fish around. When Harold and Marjorie Schneider took over the helm of the hotel in 1946 they transformed it from a seasonal rooming house into a well-respected restaurant and 18-room hotel where weary travellers and enthusiastic sightseers could enjoy the fines that the tiny fishing village had to offer. In 1972, son Tony and daughter-in-law Betty carried the Port Dover tradition forward into the 20th century. Now grandson Andrew and wife Pam continue the family's
hands-on approach to the business, offering people the very same proven
recipes that have kept generations of diners coming back time and time
again.
